SUMMER
WATERFIELD
MAKING HER
MARK IN MOTORSPORTS
Leah Waterfield is a 19-year-old racer from Ontario, Canada who grew up in a family with a passion for motorsports. Leah’s great uncle, Jim Ward, raced Nascar, while another uncle, Mike Willett, raced production bikes. Leah’s father, John Waterfield, gained a love for motorsports from his uncle Jim, which he passed on to his daughter early in life.
Leah's journey in motorsports started in 2011 when she started racing arrive and drive at Mosport Kartways in Clarington, Ontario. In 2012, she got her own kart and started racing in MIKA, with her father John, and uncle Mike as her mechanics. In 2018, Leah was asked to race with team VSR, where she further honed her skills. Sadly, in 2019, Leah’s father passed away in an accident, and Leah took a break from racing to focus on her studies. She enrolled at Wilfrid Laurier University to study kinesiology, but after just one semester, she knew it was not on the path she was destined for.

Determined to pursue her passion for racing, Leah has spent the past year saving and training. With the support of Professional Racing Ontario (PRO), Leah will be returning to racing for the 2023 season!
Leah's goal is to become the first Canadian female Formula 1 world champion and make her father proud. Despite the obstacles she has faced in her racing career, Leah remains determined and committed to her dream. She is ready to work hard and show the world what she is capable of, and to make her mark in motorsports history.
